ARHAT WITHOUT A COUNTER-PART

A symbol of the Absolute Being, the unmanifest Supreme Self. "That Arhat is here saluted, who has no counterpart,-who as bestowing the supreme happiness, surpasses (Brahman) the Creator, who as driving away darkness, vanquishes the sun,—and as dispelling all burning heat, surpasses the beautiful moon.' -Buddha-Karita, Bk. I. 1.

The Supreme Self is hailed as One without a Second,-as the Unmani. fest,-That in which all things consist and subsist,-That which is Bliss,- That which is above the Creator in that it is both Creator and created, and beyond them both; the Ineffable Unity who is all Light, and comprehends all light,-who is all Truth, and surpasses the moon in that the One is not a reflection, but is True Being,-Divine Reality.
