BABEL CITYA symbol of a mental centre established in the soul, at an early period of human evolution, when the entire lower nature of the soul was in a homogeneous condition. "From the very commencement of man's evolution, which was always meant to be spiritual only, he was a Temple (house of the Divine). At first his life was simple. It was onefold, so to speak, in order to express how simple it was. But even then the Divine Presence was within it potentially. It was not simple in its structure, but only in its powers of functioning. It was always a scious being upon the spiritual planes, though its consciousness was what we might express by the term onefold: that word expresses its limitations, just like a child-consciousness.
