UNDERSTANDING BAPTISM
The 5 stages of consciousness (Baptisms) are:
1. Earth — The Lower Mind
Consciousness begins in the dense, reactive layer of the psyche.
This is the mind shaped by habit, fear, memory, and survival,
the “earth” that must be loosened before anything can grow.
2. Water — Surrender to Inner Truth
The lower mind is immersed in the deeper currents of the soul.
Water dissolves rigidity, washes away falseness, and softens the ego’s grip.
This is the baptism of purification:
the personality yielding to the truth within.
3. Air — The Rising of Consciousness
From the waters, the mind ascends into stillness.
Air symbolizes spacious awareness, the state of no‑thought,
where the old identity loses its weight and the soul becomes receptive.
This is the baptism of clarity.
4. Fire — Touch of the Spirit
In the silence of Air, the inner flame descends.
Fire does not cleanse—it transfigures.
It ignites spiritual will, burns away illusion, and awakens the higher nature.
This is the baptism of illumination.
5. New Mind — The Renewed Consciousness
After Fire, a new center of identity emerges.
This is the mind aligned with the Higher Self—
clear, unified, luminous, and free.
The “new mind” is not an improvement of the old;
it is a different order of consciousness entirely.
Baptism is the movement through these stages—
the inner ascent from the conditioned self to the awakened self.
Take the lower mind (earth)
Submit it to the deep inner truth (water)
Then rising up into the air (no thought meditation)
You are then touched by the spirit (fire)
Your mind is then renewed (new mind).
