BEATIFIC VISIONThe soul realising its identity with the Infinite. "The first stage of progression from the hiddenness (of the unrevealed God-head) is made through the 'Great Intelligencies' which are nearest to God. These beings have first-hand illuminations, they 'participate in the One Himself, and have the feast of the beatific vision, which makes divine all who strain aloft to behold it'; and the Divine energy which 'bubbles forth' from the Godhead is passed on by them to the next rank, and so on down, until every existing thing participates in the Beautiful,' i.e. in the Godhead" (From Dionysius). - R.
