DELOS, THE ISLAND
A symbol of a centre of activity and organisation
in the astral vehicle, or the lower nature of the soul.
“Delos was called out of the deep by the trident of Poseidon, but
was a floating island until Zeus fastened it by adamantine chains to
the bottom of the sea, that it might be a secure resting-place to
Leto, for the birth of Apollo and Artemis. Apollo afterwards
obtained possession of Delos, by giving Calauria to Poseidon in
exchange for it; and it became the most holy seat of the worship of
Apollo.” — Smith's Class. Dict.
An astral centre was established in the lower nature (the deep),
through the wisdom, love, and power (the trident) of Eternal Truth
(Poseidon). But this centre remained unattached and free until the
Divine Will, by means of a structure of pre-physical world-essence,
connected it with an astrophysical soul-body, from the functionings
of which the higher emotion-nature (Leto) should eventually be
developed, and Divine Love and Wisdom be born in the soul.
