DIGGING A PIT IN EARTHSignifies the attempt made by the lower self to attain to self-consciousness through the desire-nature (earth). "For they (my people) have digged a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet." - JER. Xviii. 22. The lower qualities (people) of the soul are charged with having sought for satisfaction by the way of the desires, thereby oppressing the Spirit within and preventing its advance (feet) towards lordship over the lower nature. |
