JUDAH, THE TRIBE OF
A symbol of qualities in which is the spirit of
insight and understanding of spiritual verities.
“For it is evident that our Lord hath sprung out of Judah; as to
which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priests.” — Heb. vii. 14.
“Jesus” is here taken as a symbol of the regenerate soul which
stands for the Christ manifest in the “flesh” or lower nature. The
Christ-soul is beyond the Law of the old dispensation, as Love is
superior to Rule and obedience (Levi). “Judah” signifies the spirit
of insight and understanding of the things of the higher life, and
out of this the Christ-soul comes.
