MARRIAGE OF THE LAMB

A symbol of the Incarnate Self, who died in Involution, rising again in the Soul’s Evolution as Love of the Ideal, and ultimately becoming united with the Wisdom above, who is the transmuted Soul herself.

“Let us rejoice and be exceeding glad, and let us give the glory unto Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And it was given unto her that she should array herself in fine linen, bright and pure: for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.” - Rev. xix. 7–8.

All the qualities rejoice in the approach to perfection, and return to the Absolute at the end of the cycle, when the Higher Self and the perfected soul become one. For the soul has made herself ready, and all her qualities have been transmuted to the buddhic plane, whereon she assumes the shining robe of wisdom, truth, and love, which is the inheritance of the perfected qualities that have progressed through experience below.

“The final state of the soul of the Man Regenerate is described in the Apocalypse under the figure of a marriage, wherein the contracting parties are the soul herself and the now Divine Spirit of the man, which is called the Lamb. The description of this Lamb, as ‘slain before the foundation of the world,’ denotes the original and eternal act of self‑immolation — typified in the Eucharist — whereby Deity descends into conditions and distributes of Itself to be the life and substance of the Universe, alike for its creation, its sustentation, and its redemption. In the crowning act of this stupendous drama — the act which mystically is called the ‘Consummation of the Marriage of the Son of God’ — the Spirit and Bride, as King and Queen of the perfected individuality, are indissolubly united; and the human is taken up into the Divine, having received the ‘Gift of God,’ which is life eternal, a gift of God’s Own substantial Self being individualised in him.” - *The Perfect Way*, p. 243.
