NIGHT AS NULLITYA symbol of negation, secrecy, or the forgetting of all past experience on entering a higher level of consciousness. This implies the expunging of sorrow and pleasure, the wiping out of pain and sense-happiness, the killing out of desire, in passing from the " night" of the soul, the delusion of the lower planes, to the "day" of the higher planes. The symbol night may thus come to stand for inaction, or subjectivity. |
