ORO, THE TAHITIAN GOD

A symbol the Logos or Higher Self.

“Oro, the son of Taaroa, desired a wife from the daughters of Taata, the first man; he sent two of his brothers to seek among the daughters of man a suitable companion for him." - ELLIS, Polynesian Researches, Vol. I. p. 231.

The Logos, whose parent was the Absolute, desired to manifest in the soul, and sought that whereby he might do So. The "first man" signifies the mind: the "daughters" the emotions. The "two brothers" are the remaining aspects of the Higher Self.
