PHINEUS, THE PROPHET PRINCE

A symbol of the discriminating mind which first interprets the higher, but afterwards becomes spiritually blind through seeking the lower.

“Phineus was the son of Agenor or Poseidon, and was married to Cleopatra, the daughter of Boreas and Oreithyia.” — Argonautic Expedition.

This signifies that discrimination is the offspring of the Divine Mind, and at the same time the affinity of the instinct‑nature, which is its feminine counterpart on the lower planes. The instinct‑nature is the astral reflection of buddhi‑manas.
