BIBLE VERSES

PROPHETS, FALSE

A symbol of states of mind which regard outer events and personalities of time past or to come, as sources of soul-growth and salvation.

"And many false prophets shall arise and lead many astray. And because iniquity shall be multiplied, the love of the many shall wax cold." - MATTHEW xxiv. 11, 12.

The "false prophets" signify those minds which point others to particular persons, and times, and localities as sources of salvation, and thereby deceive and mislead many. As soon as erroneous religious notions abound, and these signs of spiritual inertness creep into the soul, the love of the higher, or the unifying principle, is lost to the qualities.

"Ye observe days and months, and seasons and years. I am afraid of you, lest by any means I have bestowed labor upon you in vain." - GALATIANS iv. 10, 11.
