SNATAKA

A symbol of the incarnating ego, or spiritual monad, who descends into the forms to gain experience as a responsible being, and who becomes individualised on the higher mental plane.

"Let him (a Snātaka) walk here on earth, bringing his dress, speech and thoughts to a conformity with his age, his occupation, his wealth, his sacred learning, and his race." - Laws of Manu, IV. 18.

Let the incarnating ego progress through the stages of the soul's experience upon the lower planes (earth), making his opinions (dress), his outer expression (speech), and his inner nature or character (thoughts) accord with his stage of growth (age), his self-discipline (occupation), his mental endowments (wealth), his religious intuitions (sacred learning), and his social obligations (race).
