VARUNA, THE INVESTING SKY
A symbol of Truth-reality manifesting as the
Divine Will in the cycle of life.
"Wise and mighty are the works of him (Varuna) who stemmed asunder
the wide firmaments (heaven and earth). He lifted on high the bright
and glorious heaven; he stretched out apart the starry sky and the
earth' (A prayer of Vasishtha to Varuna). - Rig-Veda, VII. 86.
The lower nature (Vasishtha) aspires towards the eternal Truth, in
veneration for that which transcends the ignorance and illusion on
the lower planes. The Divine Will differentiates between the
spiritual and material natures, and elevates the higher planes above
the lower in the consciousness of the soul.
