SIMEON, WHO WAITED FOR THE CONSOLATION OF ISRAEL
A symbol of an inner mental state or type of soul
subjectively perfected, who knew that salvation was at hand, for the
lower qualities (Israel) needed a Saviour.
"And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold this
child is set for the falling and rising up of many in Israel; and
for a sign which is spoken against." - LUKE ii. 34.
And the type "Simeon" was in accord with the purified lower nature
(Mary), and was able to impart to it his own spiritual discernment.
He pointed out that this birth of Christ in the soul is set as a
critical factor in the descent and ascent of the Spirit into and
through matter, where-by the qualities are raised, and the aim is
the attainment of Christhood in all qualities. The Christ stands to
the qualities as an opponent of ignorance and desire, and is
therefore "spoken against" by the lower nature.
