A symbol of the lower mental qualities which are
so far disciplined as to be united with the Divine up-bringing, thus
becoming the chosen ones of the Lord.
“O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob, his chosen
ones.” – Ps. cv. 6.
The mental qualities of the natural man (Jacob) in whom the Divine
nature (Abraham) is stirring, they are the qualities which are being
drawn upward by the Spirit.
“Every name in the Psalms, whether of person or of place, hath a
mystical meaning given to it in the Christian Scriptures. Jerusalem
is not the Jerusalem that was, nor is Babylon the Babylon that was,
and even David hath lost his personality in the everlasting David.
Judah and Israel mean not now the cast-away root, but the branch
