GENESIS 1:31
"And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day."
Inner Meaning
Genesis 1:31 marks the culmination of the entire
creative process within the inner cosmos. It is the moment when the
Higher Self beholds the fully ordered structure of
consciousness—heaven, earth, waters, lights, faculties, instincts,
and mind—and declares it very good.
In DOASAM’s symbolic grammar, this is not a moral judgment but a
diagnosis of harmony. Every plane has been assigned its proper
function, every force its proper nourishment, every boundary its
proper place. The inner world is now balanced, aligned, and capable
of ascent.
This verse represents the completion of the involutionary descent
and the readiness for the evolutionary return.
Symbolic Breakdown
“And God saw every thing that He had
made…”
- God symbolizes the Higher Self, the Divine Mind
within.
- Saw represents conscious recognition, the act of
awareness.
The Higher Self surveys the entire psychic structure:
- the higher planes (heaven)
- the lower quaternary (earth)
- the astral currents (waters)
- the faculties of perception (lights)
- the instincts and emotions (beasts, fowl, creeping things)
- the rational mind (man)
This is the moment of total integration.
“…and, behold, it was very good.”
- Very good means harmonious, balanced, fit for
purpose.
- Nothing is out of place; nothing is in rebellion.
- The lower nature is regulated.
- The higher faculties are awakened.
- The entire inner cosmos is aligned with the Divine pattern.
This is the state of inner equilibrium—the soul ready for spiritual
work.
“…And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.”
- Evening symbolizes descent into form, limitation,
and embodiment.
- Morning symbolizes ascent, awakening, and
illumination.
The sixth day is the completion of the human constitution:
- physical
- vital
- emotional
- mental
- intuitive
- spiritual
The cycle of descent is complete.
The cycle of ascent is about to begin.
Esoteric Interpretation
Genesis 1:31 is the seal placed upon the
completed inner architecture of the human being.
The Higher Self declares the entire structure very good because:
- every plane is functioning according to its nature
- the lower faculties are disciplined and nourished appropriately
- the higher faculties are awakened and oriented upward
- the soul stands at the threshold of conscious evolution
This verse represents the moment when the human being becomes a
microcosm—a complete reflection of the Divine order.
It is the state in which spiritual practice becomes possible.
Before this, the soul is being built.
After this, the soul begins to rise.
The sixth day is therefore the day of readiness.
The inner world is stable enough to receive the influx of the
seventh day—the rest, stillness, and sanctification that open the
path to union.
Comparative Religion & Psychology Perspective
Carl Jung
Jung would describe this as the psyche achieving structural
wholeness: the integration of shadow, instinct, ego, and archetypal
Self. “Very good” is the moment of psychic coherence.
Judaism
Jewish mysticism sees this as the moment when creation becomes a
vessel for the Divine Presence. DOASAM parallels this: the inner
cosmos becomes a fit dwelling for higher consciousness.
Christianity
Patristic writers viewed “very good” as the harmony of body, soul,
and spirit before the fall. DOASAM interprets this as the original
equilibrium of the human constitution.
Hinduism
This corresponds to the completion of the koshas—the sheaths of the
human being—before the awakening of the seventh, the bliss-sheath.
The sixth day is the completion of the manifest layers.
